After a long season, with several new details, the Champions League has come to an end. Celebrating the decisive match in Munich, PSG won 5-0 against Inter Milan. Dominating the entire match, the Parisian team has now joined the exclusive club of Champions League winners.
With this being their first title, PSG is now tied with clubs such as Manchester City, Borussia Dortmund, and Olympique Marseille. Red Star, PSV, Steaua Bucharest, Hamburg, Aston Villa, Feyenoord, and Celtic are also the clubs that join PSG. A list that, clearly, expands with the number of multiple winners.
Chelsea, Porto, Juventus, Nottingham Forest, and Benfica are the clubs that have won two Champions League titles. As for teams with three titles, only two exist, namely Manchester United and Inter Milan, which could have won its fourth.
PSG’s Entry
For years, PSG’s main objective was to win the Champions League and establish themselves as the best club in all of Europe. Having come close on several occasions, PSG faced what was only their second final in this competition. A match that, despite its importance, failed to pressure the Parisian squad, which dominated from start to finish.
This, apart from being the end of a long-awaited dream for PSG, represents the club’s entry into the history books. Aside from the aforementioned champions, PSG is now on a list where Ajax has four Champions League titles and Barcelona has just five.
Bayern Munich and Liverpool have six Champions League titles, while AC Milan continues with seven titles, the last one won in 2007. Finally, and as the king of this competition, Real Madrid leads the list with its historic 15 Champions League titles.
The new Champions League champion
Despite PSG’s recent success, the club is aware that reaching Real Madrid’s number of Champions League titles is impossible. This list has made clear, once again, the greatness of a Real Madrid team that will seek to win this trophy again.
